Impact on Wage Earners

eye care at sankara

Chitra, 42 years, was suffering from cataract in both eyes. She realized things had gone bad when she suddenly wasn’t able to even read the numbers on the bus. Every aspect of her life was affected, be it at home or at work. Chitra’s very existence depended on her ability to earn a livelihood. Post-surgery, she is back in the fields, taking care of the banana and vegetable cultivation. Sankara’s efforts contribute directly to poverty reduction by reversing decreased productivity and social isolation that people experience when they lose their sight. Needless to say, with her new found confidence, Chitra’s output has also increased.
