VCT PROGRAM
Every hospital needs trained professionals to conduct preliminary examinations, perform basic investigations, assist surgeons, and take care of patients.
To meet the specific needs of eye care delivery, SAV offers a well-designed Vision Care Technician (VCT) program in which students will be taught the basics of Ophthalmology that includes Basic Sciences, Diseases of the Eye, Investigations, Medical Treatment, Surgical Procedures and Patient Care.

DESCRIPTION
Ophthalmic dispensing is a highly sought after field. With the increase in the number of optical stores and chains, ophthalmic dispensing professionals are in great demand.
The course allows the participant to learn the art and Science of ophthalmic dispensing which includes frame selection, lens designs, Scientific fitting and trouble shooting in case of contingencies.
Objectives
Enable you to function as essential members of the ophthalmic team. Provide knowledge of frames, lenses and fitting procedure. Troubleshoot in case of problems. Understand patients’ optical needs and requirements. Understand administrative aspects of dispensing.
Certification Proficiency exam comprising objective questions and a practical demonstration. Certificate is issued by “Sankara Academy of Vision”.
INFORMATION
Candidate should have completed 10 + 2 (preferably with Sciences) and should be comfortable communicating in English( Written and Spoken). Candidates with optical background would be preferred.
This is a residential programme. Accommodation and food have to be taken care of by the candidate. Attendance on all days is mandatory.

The fellowship would provide well-rounded exposure to both the clinical and academic sides of all specialties of ophthalmology. The Sankara Eye Foundation India Training Program in Ophthalmology is a highly regarded ophthalmology program in India. Its longstanding reputation derives from its association with state-of-the-art facilities, a full range of clinical and surgical experiences, and, most importantly, the sincere commitment of the faculty to resident education. Residents are selected amongst those who have completed their post-graduation in ophthalmology from any of the centres recognized by the Medical Council of India. Residents benefit from hands-on surgical experience in all areas of specialization. The goal of the program is to train highly competent and ethical ophthalmologists who can contribute to the field and help reduce the burden of curable blindness.
