To Organise Eye Camp

Mark Twain recounted in Following the Equator, "India is the land of dreams and romance, of splendor and rags, of palaces and hovels, the country of a hundred nations and a hundred tongues”.

India provides volunteers abundant opportunities for a substantive service program and cultural enrichment.

We invite you to involve yourself in this service to humanity. You could according to your experience and qualifications work in different spheres of the hospital activites.

Medicos could get a hands on with the various health care activities being carried out here. The state of the art facilities and the friendly faculty make it an ideal stepping stone into community health.

Administrative skills could be helpful in streamlining present practices and help improve the service delivery. You could help take classes for our students on effective managerial skills.

Those from the dotcom industry could help us in the ongoing computerization of healthcare system. We are at present in the process of making our hospital one of the first completely paperless charitable eyecare institutions.

Sankar,USA" My seven days at Sankara Eye Center opened my eyes up to the eye care revolution that is taking place in Coimbatore and the compassion and dedication with which care is readily given to needy patients. I feel very privileged to have been able to experience a full week at this hospital and I promise to take home my new found awareness and make sure that others in the United States come to realize how much their help is needed to eliminate the curable blindness from India for good. I did not come here for an eye operation, but I am leaving with better vision than I ever
had before ".

Now at Sankara

Mala

During my three week trip to the Sankara Eye Center in Coimbatore, India, I learned a great deal about the incredible spirit behind service work. I was impressed by the facility, but most significantly the dedication of the entire Sankara team. Doctors, nurses, and administrators work side by side with patients, as advocates of their health and general welfare. Sankara is truly an inspirational organization.

I have gained inspiration from the phenomenal efforts that are taking place at the Sankara Eye Care Institutions. Still I maintain that nothing could really have prepared me to witness the magnitude of honorable work that takes place here on a daily basis. As the old adage goes, you must see it to believe it.
