In hospitals and private practices all over the country, ophthalmic assistants assist ophthalmologists in serving their patients.
By initiating patient exams, measuring and recording visual status, performing diagnostic procedures, and assisting in clinical and surgical settings, ophthalmic assistants are valuable members of the eye care team.
Sankara Eye Center recognizes the need for well-trained ophthalmic medical technicians and has a one-year certificate course during the year, students will attend classes and work under supervision in eye care clinics. Students successfully completing the year's course of study will receive a certificate from Sankara eye Center as an vision care technician.
Applicants must have either completed high school or passed a high school equivalency test. Preference will be shown to applicants who have completed college level courses and/or have some ocular-related work experience. Students must be capable of providing adequate ophthalmic medical clinic patient care.
