Low Vision

Consult for Low Vision If ...

Even with your regular glasses, you have difficulty: Recognizing faces reading, cooking, sewing Picking out and matching the color of your clothes? Reading street & bus signs & names of stores.

The purpose of the Low Vision Clinic at Sankara Eye Centre is to help people carry out every day tasks made difficult or impossible by low vision.

The term "low vision" refers to loss of vision which cannot be corrected by medical or surgical procedures. However, in some cases, persons with low vision may be aided with special visual devices.

Our Goal is to enable the patient to achieve maximum use of their remaining vision while maintaining as independent a life style as possible.

Low vision services include an eye exam to identify functional vision problems, an evaluation of remaining vision, and the prescription of optical and other devices, including magnifiers and telescopes, suited to eye condition, activities, and lifestyle.

Our staff would work with patients to find the best low-vision aids and services for their needs.

These devices include high-powered reading glasses, hand-held magnifiers, special microscopes and telescopes and closed-circuit televisions. Non-Optical low-vision devices available at our centre include large-print reading material, large playing cards, enlarged telephone dials and high-contrast watch faces
.
