Sankara Guntur – Phase II

Opened on 1st  March 2004, this super speciality eye care facility not only caters to the rural poor through an extensive rural outreach programme but also provides affordable super-speciality surgical and diagnostic care to the people of Andhra Pradesh.

The , “ Gift of Vision”, rural out reach eye care has reached out to beneficiaries from Guntur, Krishna and Prakasam districts. Over 26000 free intraocular surgeries for cataract, glaucoma and other eye diseases have been performed till date.The revolutionary Sankara ORBIS Paediatric Eye Care Programme has helped screen close to one lakh children for visual impairment and helped thousands see the world in new light.

Sankara Eye Hospital has recently commissioned Binocular Indirect Ophthalmo Microscope, the most sophisticated and latest Non Contact Operation System, which will enable surgeons to perform advanced retina surgeries,first of its kind in coastal Andhra, the equipement is one among the various sophisticated equipments available including LASERS, Scans and digital angiography.

Having established Sankara Eye Hospital in Guntur on a firm footing, we are now poised to take up the second phase of construction and infrastructure development, which is now a felt need. This would see the doubling of capacity with an addition of a further 100 beds and the establishment of the eye bank.
