29th January, 2008 – Annual Day Function and Long Service Awards.

Sankara Eye Centre's Annual Day will be celebrated at a function here on Tuesday the 29th January,2008.

As has been the tradition over the past decade, the fortnight preceding the function saw various events which displayed the talent and skills of our medical, paramedical and supportive staff. Today Sankara is a true representation of India, with staff from Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Gujarat working or being trained at Coimbatore. A food festival was organized as a part of the celebrations at the hospital premises where our staff prepared and displayed various dishes from their traditional cuisines.

Coinciding with the annual day function, twenty six members of Team Sanakra from across the Cadres, from housekeeping to canteen, outreach workers, nursing staff and security staff would receive long service awards from the Trustees in a special presentation.

The event will recognised those staff who had contributed 5 years or more service to the Sankara.

On behalf of Team Sankara we recognise the tremendous contribution made by the award recipients to our Mission and their commitment to patients over the years is greatly appreciated.

March 9th 2008 – Inauguration of Sankara Eye Hospital, Bangalore

As our commitment to Vision 20/20 by 2020, under which we wish to make eye care accessible to all Indians and also reach out to 1 million beneficiaries with curative eye care, the flagship Sankara Eye hospital at Bangalore would be dedicated to the Nation and formally inaugurated on March 9th.

We invite all our patrons, donors and well-wishers to participate and add to the joy of the occasion.

The centre would house state of the art eye care facilities, including LASERS, diagnostics and a theatre complex. 200 beds would be dedicated to community eye care. The hospital would not only render curative and preventive eye care but also would house the training institute which would train the whole gamut of human resource needed for eye care delivery.

The institution has come up thanks to support from our well-wishers and donors in India and USA and other partner INGO’s.
