The transparent cornea is our window to the world. Any disease or trauma affecting this transparency drastically affects the vision of the person.
The Cornea Service is a leading center for corneal transplants and the treatment of corneal diseases and conditions. In addition to corneal transplants, physicians in the Cornea Service diagnose and treat corneal dystrophies, abrasions, scars, and congenital corneal problems.
The service also houses the Sankara Eye Bank. |

The centre offers specialized services in dealing with:
- Corneal Infections and Injuries : Corneal transplants are one of medicine's most successful transplant operations.
- Ocular Surface and Tear Disorders : Usually caused by eye mechanism dysfunctions can be relived and/or corrected through accurate diagnoses and appropriate specialized treatments.
Corneal Dystrophies and degenerative conditions treated medically or with surgical intervention where necessary.

The clinic has the therapeutic and diagnostic capabilities to handle any disorder pertaining to the anterior segment of the eye, including all aspects of anterior segment imaging, such as corneal topography, abberometer, digital specular microscopy and pachymetry.
We perform lamellar and penetrating Keratoplasty. Cosmetic tattooing of those with corneal opacities is also done by our surgeons.
The clinic is committed to the care and treatment of conditions affecting the ocular surface.
