About 1/5th of the blind population live in India with around 4 million being added every year which is increasing the existing population of people with visual impairment many folds. To combat this situation, a colossal effort on the part of individuals and organisations is required.

Realising this need, Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Medical Trust initiated the formation of Sankara Eye Centre with the following objectives in mind :

  • To make readily available cost-effective, quality eye care to all.

  • Provide the latest in diagnostic and surgical care for eye diseases.

  • To always have quality as the sole criterion for all activities.

  • To establish eye banks and peripheral eye donor forums for different regions of our country.

Bound together with the simple philosophy, Miracles cannot cure the blind, you can.

Institutions have been further established with support from philanthropists and donor agencies – Sankara Eye Hospital, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh and Sankara Rural Eye Hospital, Krishnankovil in southern Tamilnadu.
